Michael Harris
Director
Michael Harris joined Boston College in 2018 and serves as Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS). Reporting through the Office of the Provost and Dean of Faculties and serving as a member of the Athletics Executive Team, Harris provides strategic leadership at the intersection of academic affairs and intercollegiate athletics, with a focus on student success, retention, formation, and educational opportunity. Within Athletics, Harris also serves as the sport administrator for Boston College softball.
As a member of Boston College's Undergraduate Academic Officers Committee, Harris contributes to University initiatives focused on student success, retention, and the undergraduate experience. He also represents 51成人动漫 Athletics on University and Atlantic Coast Conference committees and initiatives focused on educational access, opportunity, student formation, and community engagement.
During Harris's tenure, Boston College has remained among the nation's leaders in student-athlete graduation and academic success. 51成人动漫 student-athletes have continually achieved historic highs in academic performance by repeatedly posting semester and annual GPAs above 3.20, with more than 70% consistently completing the academic year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 51成人动漫 has also achieved record participation on the ACC Academic Honor Roll, while men's basketball has recorded several perfect single-year NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000.
Harris has also led strategic initiatives, cross-campus partnerships, and investments in technology and learning environments to expand educational opportunity, support student persistence and success, and advance the University's broader educational mission.
Prior to Boston College, Harris served at his alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as Associate Director of the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes and Director of Football Academics. Returning to Chapel Hill during a period of significant university reform, Harris helped implement initiatives that contributed to milestones in student-athlete success metrics.
Harris previously served as Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services and Career Development at the University of Maryland, where he led football academic services and department-wide learning and tutoring support. During his tenure, Maryland football achieved several academic milestones, including NCAA APR Public Recognition and a department-wide GPA of 3.00. Earlier in his career, Harris held student-athlete academic support and leadership positions at Towson University and Western Carolina University.
Nationally, Harris is a member of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) and an alumnus of the NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute and N4A Professional Development Institute. His commitment to mentorship, service, and community engagement extends beyond the University through service on the Board of Directors of the Lou Montgomery Foundation and membership in 100 Black Men of Greater Boston and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Harris earned an Ed.D. in Higher Education from Boston College's Lynch School of Education and Human Development and an M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business. A native of Rougemont, North Carolina, he earned his B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a three-year football letterwinner.
Stephen Darville
Associate Director

Stephen Darville joined Boston College Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) in the fall of 2021 and currently serves as Associate Director. In this role, he provides leadership and oversight for the Smith Family Academic Center and leads the academic support programs for Football. In addition to his SAAS responsibilities, Darville serves as the sport administrator for Boston College鈥檚 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Tennis programs.
In addition to his sport-specific responsibilities, Darville plays a key role in department-wide academic operations, including spearheading the evaluation of transfer student-athlete academic records. Through this work, he collaborates with campus and athletics partners to assess transfer coursework and support academic planning, degree progression, and eligibility considerations. He works closely with coaches, administrators, faculty, and other campus partners to coordinate academic support and student-athlete formation efforts that promote academic achievement and progress toward graduation.
Darville also serves as an Adjunct Professor in Boston College's Sports Administration program, a role he has held since 2025.
Prior to Boston College, Darville served as Director of Football Academics at the University of South Florida, where he oversaw all aspects of the academic support for the football program. He also coordinated continuing eligibility and reporting processes while overseeing USF鈥檚 degree-completion program for former student-athletes who had exhausted their athletic eligibility.
Darville previously served as an Academic Counselor for Football at the University of Maryland, Tutorial Coordinator at Georgia Southern University, and an Instructing Professor of Sport Management at Shorter University. He is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), where he has served in multiple capacities, and is a two-time graduate of the Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute.
A former football student-athlete at the University of Tennessee, Darville earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a Master of Science in Sport Psychology from the University of Tennessee. During his collegiate career, he was a four-time recipient of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Amy Morgan
Senior Assistant Director
Amy Morgan joined Boston College Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) in 2011 and currently serves as Senior Assistant Director. She provides academic counseling for Women鈥檚 Basketball, Women鈥檚 Lacrosse, Sailing, Rowing, and Men鈥檚 Track & Field/Cross Country.
In addition to her academic counseling responsibilities, Morgan coordinates Eagles 101, SAAS鈥檚 transition program for first-year student-athletes. She also assists with the transfer evaluation process and serves as the SAAS liaison to Boston College鈥檚 First-Year Experience (FYE) program and the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS). During her tenure at Boston College, she has also previously served as a Tutorial Coordinator.
Prior to joining Boston College, Morgan worked at Villanova University from 2003 to 2011, serving as Associate Director of Academic Support for Athletics. Earlier in her career, she held various positions at Rosemont College.
Morgan earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Accounting from Franklin & Marshall College, where she was a four-year member of the volleyball program. She later earned a Master of Education in Sport and Recreation Administration from Temple University.
David Jordan
Assistant Director
David Jordan joined Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) full-time in September 2022 and currently serves as Assistant Director. In this role, he provides academic counseling and learning support for Men鈥檚 Basketball and Football while helping student-athletes develop individualized academic, graduation, and student-success plans in collaboration with campus partners. A graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute鈥檚 Learning Specialist track, Jordan applies specialized learning-support strategies to help student-athletes develop the skills and approaches necessary to become increasingly independent learners.
Jordan also provides leadership for several SAAS programs and initiatives. He directs the office鈥檚 summer transition program for incoming first-year student-athletes and supervises the Educational Assistant program. Through his work with Men鈥檚 Basketball, Jordan has contributed to significant academic achievement, including program GPA milestones and several single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000. He has also been instrumental in department-wide access and opportunity initiatives.
Prior to joining SAAS full-time, Jordan served as Assistant Director of the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, where his responsibilities included oversight of programming, academics, budgeting, fundraising, scheduling, facility operations, and personnel. He previously worked as an Assistant Athletic Director at Randolph Public Schools and as a Graduate Assistant in Student-Athlete Academic Services at Hampton University. Earlier in his career, he served as a Teacher鈥檚 Assistant and Assistant Football Coach with Wayland Public Schools.
A Boston native, Jordan earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports, Entertainment & Event Management from Johnson & Wales University and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Hampton University. He also completed Boston College鈥檚 Executive Sports Leadership certificate program in 2026. Jordan has served as President of the Zeta Kappa Sigma Boston alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., reflecting his continued commitment to leadership and community engagement.
Richard Mapeza
Assistant Director

Richard Mapeza joined Boston College Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) in 2024 and serves as Assistant Director. In this role, he serves as the academic counselor for the Men's Soccer program and coordinates the department's tutorial and supplemental academic support programs.
As SAAS Tutorial Coordinator, Mapeza oversees the recruitment, hiring, and coordination of tutors and other part-time academic support staff. He manages tutorial appointments and works closely with academic counselors and learning specialists to align supplemental academic services with individualized student support plans. Through this work, he helps ensure that student-athletes receive appropriate, timely academic support aligned with their individual learning needs and academic goals.
Mapeza's tenure at Boston College began in 2019 as a graduate assistant in Student Affairs. He later served as an Administrative Program Specialist at the University, gaining experience in academic administration, student support, and program operations before joining Student-Athlete Academic Services in 2024.
Prior to Boston College, Mapeza spent eight years as an Information and Communication Technology teacher at Holy Trinity High School in Kingston, Jamaica. His work included curriculum development, instruction, and the integration of technology into educational settings.
Mapeza earned a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Excelsior Community College in Jamaica. He holds two master's degrees from Boston College: a Master of Science in Leadership and Administration with a concentration in Project Management and a Master of Science in Sports Administration. He has also pursued graduate study in Cybersecurity Risk Management through Boston College's Woods College of Advancing Studies.
Lee Metzger
Assistant Director

Lee Metzger joined Boston College Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) in 2002 and has served as an Assistant Director since 2011. In her current role, she serves as the Academic Counselor for Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, and Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Swimming and Diving, supporting student-athletes in their academic progress, degree planning, and overall development. Metzger also serves as SAAS's liaison with the Boston College School of Social Work, overseeing social work interns who support the department's student-athlete services.
During her more than two decades at Boston College, Metzger has supported student-athletes across a wide range of varsity programs, including Football, Men鈥檚 Basketball, Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Track and Field and Cross Country, and Lacrosse. Her contributions to SAAS have also included six years overseeing the department鈥檚 tutorial program, reflecting the breadth of her experience in academic support and student success.
Prior to Boston College, Metzger worked in student-athlete academic support at the University of California, Berkeley, where she provided academic, personal, and career guidance to student-athletes representing a broad range of varsity sports.
Metzger earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Merrimack College, where she was a member of the Women鈥檚 Basketball team. She later earned a Master of Science in Counseling from San Francisco State University, specializing in College and Career Counseling, while using her remaining year of collegiate basketball eligibility. During her time at San Francisco State, she also worked as an Academic Advisor in the Gator Academic Resource Center and as a Career Center Events Coordinator in the Career Services and Leadership Development Center.
Drawing on her experience as both a former collegiate student-athlete and longtime higher education professional, Metzger brings extensive institutional knowledge and a sustained commitment to supporting the academic achievement and personal development of Boston College student-athletes.
Patrice Bouzan
Learning Specialist/Academic Counselor

Patrice Bouzan joined Boston College Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) in 2010 and serves as an Academic Counselor for Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Ice Hockey, Field Hockey, and Women鈥檚 Track & Field/Cross Country. In this role, she works closely with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and campus partners to support academic progress, degree completion, and overall student success.
In addition to her academic counseling responsibilities, Bouzan provides individualized learning support to student-athletes with a range of learning needs, including those with learning disabilities and ADHD. Drawing upon her background in special education, she assists student-athletes with developing effective learning strategies, academic skills, and approaches for navigating the demands of a rigorous college curriculum.
Bouzan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Boston College and a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development with a concentration in Sport Psychology from Boston University. She also earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) in Special Education from Boston University. Prior to joining Boston College, Bouzan worked as a special educator at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels.
Sophia Bates
Learning Specialist/Academic Counselor

Sophia Johnson joined Boston College Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) as a graduate assistant in 2020 and transitioned to a full-time role in 2022. She currently serves as a Learning Specialist and Academic Counselor, providing academic counseling and individualized learning support to student-athletes in football, men鈥檚 tennis, and the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 fencing programs.
In addition to her team responsibilities, Johnson coordinates SAAS鈥檚 department-wide initial learning disability screening process. She facilitates referrals and testing with local practitioners and serves as the department鈥檚 liaison to the Connors Family Learning Center, helping connect student-athletes with appropriate campus resources, accommodations, and specialized academic support. As a learning specialist, she works individually with student-athletes to develop effective learning strategies, strengthen executive functioning and organizational skills, and promote greater independence in navigating the academic demands of Boston College.
Johnson earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs from Boston College and is pursuing a Master of Science in Leadership with a concentration in Project Management at 51成人动漫. She also holds certificates in Student-Athlete Development and Special Education. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and History from Saint Michael鈥檚 College in Colchester, Vermont.
A native of North Haven, Connecticut, Johnson鈥檚 background in education, student affairs, and specialized learning support informs her work helping student-athletes develop the skills and strategies necessary for academic success.
Kathleen Steele
Learning Specialist/Academic Counselor

Kathleen Steele joined SAAS full-time in August 2022 and currently serves as a Learning Specialist and Academic Counselor for Football, Skiing, and the Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Golf programs. In these roles, she provides individualized academic support to student-athletes throughout their Boston College careers, with an emphasis on developing effective learning strategies, executive functioning skills, organization, and academic independence.
In addition to her counseling and learning support responsibilities, Steele coordinates the SAAS Writing Specialist program and plays a key role in the department's broader academic support programming. She oversees the development and delivery of training curriculum for SAAS tutors, helping prepare students and professional staff to provide effective, student-centered academic support. Steele also develops and facilitates department-wide student success workshops, providing supplemental education on academic skills and strategies to student-athletes across 51成人动漫's varsity programs.
Steele's experience with SAAS dates to 2016, when she began working as an Academic Mentor and later served as an Assistant Learning Specialist before joining the staff full-time. Her broader experience at Boston College includes teaching First-Year Writing Seminar and serving as a pre-major advisor. Prior to joining SAAS full-time, she taught Writing and Literature at Newbury College.
Steele earned both a Bachelor of Arts in English and History and a Master of Arts in English from Boston College.
Madison Damm
Academic Counselor

Maddie Damm joined Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) full-time in March 2023 after previously serving as an Academic Mentor for the Football and Men鈥檚 Basketball programs at Boston College. Since joining SAAS full-time, her role has expanded to include academic counseling responsibilities across multiple programs. She currently serves as an Academic Counselor for Football, Women鈥檚 Soccer, and Women鈥檚 Tennis and assists with the transfer evaluation process for incoming student-athletes. She previously supported the administration of the SAAS Tutorial Program as a Tutorial Coordinator.
Prior to returning to Boston College, Damm served as Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support at the University of New Hampshire, where she oversaw academic support for the Football program.
Damm earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, where she was a member of the women鈥檚 soccer team. She earned a Master of Education in Athletic Counseling from Springfield College in 2020. In 2025, Damm completed the ACC Coaching the Whole Person Academy, a professional development program focused on supporting the holistic growth and development of student-athletes.

Anna Pacella-Cerasani serves as the office administrator, managing day-to-day operations, including part-time employee payroll, records management, data entry, procurement, and office calendars.
